Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8 October 2026

The First Claim is designed to be simple and private. You do not need an account to use it.

Information The First Claim asks for

You do not need to provide your name, phone number, address or other personal details to use The First Claim.

There are no advertising profiles and no advertising trackers in the app.

The app code does not include third-party analytics for following what you read or building a profile of you.

If you choose to email me, you can include your device, where you were in the app and your question or feedback. Nothing is sent until you send the email yourself. I receive the address you send it from and whatever you choose to include.

What stays on your device

The First Claim stores some settings locally so that it can remember how you use the app. These include:

This information is stored on your device. The First Claim does not send your reading progress to me.

Unfinished feedback is saved in this browser tab's session storage so you can return to it. It is not sent unless you send an email yourself.

Your browser or operating system may also cache app files or audio as part of its normal operation.

The website and Cloudflare

The website is hosted through Cloudflare. When you visit the website, Cloudflare processes ordinary technical information needed to deliver and protect it. This can include your IP address, information about the request, traffic-routing information and technical information about the connection.

That processing is part of the hosting and security of the website. It is separate from The First Claim tracking what you read; the site does not add an advertising or behavioural-tracking system of its own.

Cloudflare has its own privacy policy covering how it handles information on its network.

External links

Some references open another website when you tap them.

Bible and source references open external websites such as BibleGateway, museums, journals and manuscript collections.

Sharing may also open services such as WhatsApp, Messages, email or other apps that you choose to use.

Those external services have their own privacy policies. The First Claim does not control what they collect once you choose to leave the app or website.

Android and Google Play

The Android version is distributed through Google Play. Google may process information connected with downloading, installing or updating the app under Google's own terms and privacy policy.

The First Claim does not receive your Google account password or payment information from Google Play.

Audio and internet access

The Android app includes its reading material and audio.

The website loads its files over the internet. External Bible and source links also require an internet connection.

Bible verse widget (Android only)

The Android app's Bible verse widget works from content bundled inside the app. Its appearance settings, local shuffle seed, and rotation start time are stored on your device. The widget does not send us which verses you see, how often you look at it, or which settings you choose.

The widget itself works offline. If you tap Read on BibleGateway, your browser opens BibleGateway and that site has its own privacy policy.

Children

The First Claim is not directed at children under 13. It does not ask children to create an account or submit personal information.

Changes to this policy

If the way The First Claim handles information changes, this policy will be updated and the date at the top will change.
