The older book
The Library
The Bible was always pointing to him.
Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.
Luke 24:25-27 · Luke 24:44-47

If you look hard enough, you can find patterns in almost anything.
The scene
The Bible isn't really one book. It's a library.
Different authors, different centuries. History, poetry, prophecy, letters, songs.
But the books talk to each other. A story in Genesis appears again in something Jesus says. Paul mentions Adam and suddenly you're back at the beginning. John includes one little detail and you think:
Wait. I've seen that before.
After Jesus rose from the dead, he met two disciples walking to Emmaus. They didn't understand how any of it fitted together, so Jesus took them through their own Scriptures.
"Beginning from Moses and from all the prophets, he explained to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself."Luke 24:27
I wish Luke had written that conversation down. He didn't.
Jesus was showing them himself in the Scriptures they already had.
That doesn't mean every resemblance we notice is a hidden prediction.
Sometimes Scripture makes the connection for us. Other times the connection grows out of what Scripture has already given us. And sometimes we might just have noticed a resemblance.
I'll try to tell you which is which.
Paul actually tells us to put Adam and Jesus beside each other.
So we'll start there.
Adam.
The point
The Bible was always pointing to him.
