The Spirit Given
Jesus promised the Holy Spirit.
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and will remind you of all that I said to you.

The scene
"Hear, Israel: Yahweh is our God. Yahweh is one."Deuteronomy 6:4
At his baptism, Jesus comes up from the water. The Spirit of God descends on him like a dove, and a voice from heaven says:
"This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."Matthew 3:17
The Father speaks while the Son is there and the Spirit descends.
After his resurrection, Jesus tells his disciples to baptise:
"in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."Matthew 28:19
In Acts, Peter confronts a man named Ananias:
"Why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit?"Acts 5:3
A moment later he tells him:
"You haven't lied to men, but to God."Acts 5:4
The Father is God, the Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God. They are distinct. There is one God.
Christians call this the Trinity.
That is hard to understand. God is not like anything else we know.
Paul writes to Christians:
"In him you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,"Ephesians 1:13
And he tells them the Spirit lives in them:
"If the Spirit of him who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you."Romans 8:11

God gives his people the Holy Spirit.
