The claim
God Who Is
You asked if he was there.
He is not far from each one of us.
Genesis 1:1 · Psalm 90:1-2 · Acts 17:24-28 · Revelation 4:11
The scene
Near the end of the Bible, John sees God worshipped before his throne:
"Worthy are you, our Lord and God, the Holy One, to receive the glory, the honor, and the power, for you created all things, and because of your desire they existed and were created!"Revelation 4:11
One of the Psalms reaches back before the earth itself:
"Before the mountains were born,
before you had formed the earth and the world,
even from everlasting to everlasting, you are God."Psalm 90:2
The apostle Paul stood in Athens talking to people who didn't know the God he worshipped. The God who made the world and everything in it doesn't need anything from us, he told them. He gives us life and breath in the first place, and Paul told them to seek him:
"He is not far from each one of us."Acts 17:27
Then the Bible's first sentence:
"In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth."Genesis 1:1
He was already there. The world and everything in it is something he created, including you.
The point
The God who made all of this is close enough to be found.
Sit with this
He created you.
