The claim

Turn and Trust

Jesus doesn't ask for a place in your life.

Repent, and believe in the Good News.

Mark 1:14-18 · James 4:6-10 · Ephesians 1:7 · Ephesians 2:8-10 · Matthew 11:28-30

The scene

We build a life and decide what matters to us. There are things we want, somewhere we think we're going, and if we think about God at all the question can become where he fits into it.

But he made us.

Jesus said:

"Repent, and believe in the Good News."Mark 1:15

To repent is to turn from sin to God.

To believe is to put your trust in him.

James writes:

"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."James 4:6

"Be subject therefore to God."James 4:7

Paul writes that in Jesus "we have our redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace."Ephesians 1:7

And later:

"for by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, that no one would boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them."Ephesians 2:8-10

Jesus said:

"Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls."Matthew 11:28-29

When Jesus called Simon and Andrew, he said:

"Come after me."Mark 1:17

They left their nets and followed him.

The point
